Activity Week Postcard
Well I'm back and mostly thawed out after a week of hiking in gloriously frigid Himalayan valleys. My students are back too: tenth graders from a week of mandatory service digging irrigation ditches and planting trees in local villages; eleventh and twelfth graders from such adventures as safaris in India's far east jungles, playing cricket in Delhi, and meeting the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Now I'm prodding them to clean up their rooms and together we're bracing ourselves for the onslaught of hundreds of alumni who will be visiting for Woodstock's 150th anniversary weekend.
Soon I'll write more about my hike, my fellow hikers, and the pre-industrial revolution Garwali villages we passed through. Next week, I hope.
